The draft
The ABC collection of cards comprises more than 4500 different designs. And over the years styles have changed. Every year our in-house artists create more than 1000 new motifs. Our speciality is regional and linguistic diversity, which enables us to satisfy every request and requirement.
sketching and digitalization
Not all artists have the same approach. Some create the classical way. Others design directly onto E-Pads or computer. The draft sketches are then digitalized, so that the production process can proceed.

ABC Greeting Cards operates its own high performance printing plant. Our specialized state-of-the-art facilities ensure top quality products – and always in accordance with agreed delivery deadline.
Key components of our technology are :
- our own pre-press unit (CTP)
- our own offset printing department with a Heidelberg Speedmaster 106-5+LX2 LE UV (5-colour and coating) and an SM52-4+L (4-colour and coating)
- special flat-bed facilities for print enhancement
- the stamp gravure machines
- a high performance converting facility with cutting, creasing and folding machines as well as single packaging facilities.

Cutting
Our greeting cards are cut on high-precision cutting tables – a paramount prerequisite for further print processing.
Punching and cutting
Meticulous finishing of the card motifs is carried out on our 70-year platen presses. These motifs can be foil stamping, special creasing and above all foils in silver and gold. Increasingly, other materials are being used to create attractive new visual effects.
blind embossing
Many cards are blind embossed. The shaping of the paper lends the motif a 3-D visual effect and also a special type of touch. ABC greeting cards not only embrace the sense of sight – they are also temptation to the touch.
Creasing work and Folding
The classic double card features a pinpoint precision crease as well as a perfect fold. This ensures that each card opens easily and can be closed with absolute accuracy. It sounds simple – but it requires professional know-how.
Homeworking - regional and reliable
Manual work is essential for cards which require special types of finishing and are not machine processable. This work covers specially folded cards, polishing and the attachment of decorative miniature items. For many years we have operated a highly efficient regional homeworking team, comprising some 14 skilled workers.
Every year our homeworking team carries out special ABC greeting card assignments for some of Switzerland’s leading enterprises. In addition, our company can count on the reliable support of various social institutions from throughout our region.
packaging
The greeting cards are now "married" individually to the correct envelopes. They are then packed in transparent foil, providing protection from possible dirt and damp.
